Rathinam Pongal 2025, themed Uzhavar Thiruvizha

Rathinam College of Arts and Science  orchestrated a magnificent celebration for RathinamPongal 2025, themed UzhavarThiruvizha (உழவர்திருவிழா). This vibrant event paid tribute to the rich cultural tapestry of Tamil Nadu, underscoring the core values of unity, tradition, and community engagement.The event was presided by Dr R Manicksm, CEO, Rathinam Group of Institution, Followed by Dr BalasubramanianS, principal, RCAS, Vice Principal Dr SN Suresh, RCAS joined this grand traditional event.

The festivities commenced with the School-wise Pongal Preparation, a collaborative endeavour where students from various schools came together to prepare the traditional pot Pongal. This initiative not only fostered creativity but also promoted teamwork and a deep connection to Tamil culinary traditions. The crowning highlight of the event was the spectacular Grand Parade, which showcased beautifully decorated tractors representing each school. These vibrant floats were adorned with intricate cultural motifs and featured native breed animals, birds, Maavilaku, and Molaipari, all of which embodied the essence of Tamil Nadu’s agricultural heritage.

In addition to these remarkable displays, the celebration featured mesmerizing traditional dance performances such as Oyilaatam, Puli Aatam, and MayilAatam. These performances, accompanied by live music, brought the event to life with rhythm, energy, and color, adding an unparalleled vibrancy to the occasion.

Special awards were presented in several prestigious categories, including SerathaKeda (Best Traditional Goat), SerathaSandaSeval (Best Native Hen), MutuKaedaNatuKudirai (Best Indigenous Horse), and SiranthaKeliMukuSeval (Best Native Bird). These awards were bestowed to highlight the invaluable role of livestock in Tamil Nadu’s agricultural ecosystem, while also emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting indigenous breeds. Such breeds have been integral to the region's farming traditions, contributing to both the cultural and economic sustainability of Tamil Nadu’s agricultural heritage.

Rathinam College's RathinamPongal 2025 proved to be a remarkable occasion, seamlessly blending tradition, culture, and community spirit. It served as a fitting tribute to the joyous spirit of Pongal and Tamil Nadu’s rich agricultural heritage.The event was cordinated by Dr Selvakumar, Mr V. Sathishanandan, Gyanasekar&Saravanan.
