Rathinavani Community Radio 90.8 achieving a prestigious All India World Record.

Rathinam College’s Rathinavani Community Radio 90.8 Honored by All India World Record Virtual University

Coimbatore, March 28, 2025 – Rathinam Arts and Science College has made history with its Rathinavani Community Radio 90.8 achieving a prestigious All India World Record. The record-setting attempt took place on September 3, 2024, in collaboration with the Departments of Visual Communication, Costume & Fashion Design, and English. This groundbreaking initiative was officially recognized by the All India Book of Records and the All India World Record Virtual University, with the honor being presented during the College Day Celebration on March 28, 2025.

As part of this remarkable achievement, three major events were conducted simultaneously over a 24-hour period:

1. 100 Short Films Screening – A showcase of socially impactful short films to raise awareness on critical issues.

2. Handloom Fashion Show – A spectacular runway featuring over 120 models highlighting the beauty and craftsmanship of handloom textiles.

3. Continuous English Poetry Recital – A literary celebration with participation from over 60 individuals reciting poetry non-stop.

The successful execution of these events earned Rathinavani Community Radio an official world record, marking a significant milestone in the fields of cultural and educational initiatives.

During the certification ceremony, key contributors were honored for their efforts, including Dr. J. Mahendran, Director of Rathinavani Community Radio; Mr. V. Sathishanandan, Head of the Visual Communication Department; Ms. A. Dhanvi, Head of the Costume & Fashion Design Department; Ms. Saradha, Head of the English Department; and Mr. T.J. Raju, Dean of Student Affairs. The certificates were presented by Mr. S. Venkatesan, Founder of All India Book of Records, and Ms. Kalaivani, Secretary of the organization.

The event was graced by the CEO and Secretary of Rathinam Group of Institutions, Dr. R. Manickam; Principal of Rathinam Arts and Science College, Dr.Balasubramaniam; Vice Principal, Dr. S.N. Suresh; Dr. S. Dinakaran, COE; Administration Officer, A. Bominathan; and Research Dean, Dr.Sabareesan, as special guests. Professors, students, and more than a thousand attendees participated in and organized the celebration.

'F-Series Festival 2023 -Fashion, Film, Food Festival

Actress Amritha Aiyer, who has acted in many films including Bigil, Padaveeran and Lift is the Celebrity Guest of this event. Also, the main events of the program will be a eminent Live Musical Concert by Singer Gowry Lekshmi & band and a DJ Party with Water Drums & Snow DJ by Bro House - A DJ Band. Also, Madan A. Rathinam Pongal 2025, themed Uzhavar Thiruvizha

Rathinam College of Arts and Science orchestrated a magnificent celebration for RathinamPongal 2025, themed UzhavarThiruvizha (உழவர்திருவிழா). This vibrant event paid tribute to the rich cultural tapestry of Tamil Nadu, underscoring the core values of unity, tradition, and community engagement.The event was presided by Dr R Manicksm, CEO, Rathinam Group of Institution, Followed by Dr BalasubramanianS, principal, RCAS, Vice Principal Dr SN Suresh, RCAS joined this grand traditional event.

The festivities commenced with the School-wise Pongal Preparation, a collaborative endeavour where students from various schools came together to prepare the traditional pot Pongal. This initiative not only fostered creativity but also promoted teamwork and a deep connection to Tamil culinary traditions. The crowning highlight of the event was the spectacular Grand Parade, which showcased beautifully decorated tractors representing each school. These vibrant floats were adorned with intricate cultural motifs and featured native breed animals, birds, Maavilaku, and Molaipari, all of which embodied the essence of Tamil Nadu’s agricultural heritage.

In addition to these remarkable displays, the celebration featured mesmerizing traditional dance performances such as Oyilaatam, Puli Aatam, and MayilAatam. These performances, accompanied by live music, brought the event to life with rhythm, energy, and color, adding an unparalleled vibrancy to the occasion.

Special awards were presented in several prestigious categories, including SerathaKeda (Best Traditional Goat), SerathaSandaSeval (Best Native Hen), MutuKaedaNatuKudirai (Best Indigenous Horse), and SiranthaKeliMukuSeval (Best Native Bird). These awards were bestowed to highlight the invaluable role of livestock in Tamil Nadu’s agricultural ecosystem, while also emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting indigenous breeds. Such breeds have been integral to the region's farming traditions, contributing to both the cultural and economic sustainability of Tamil Nadu’s agricultural heritage.

Rathinam College's RathinamPongal 2025 proved to be a remarkable occasion, seamlessly blending tradition, culture, and community spirit. Youth20 is one of the official Engagement Groups of the G20. The Youth20 (Y20) Engagement Group is organising discussions across the nation, to consult the youth on ideas for a better tomorrow and draft an agenda for action.

The conference aims to facilitate the exchange of thought leadership and insights that will profoundly impact career decisions and enhance the lives of students and the Higher Educational Institutions. This Y20 event holds the mission of empowering the higher education sector for the forthcoming world of work.

We felt honoured to feature distinguished expertise who has delivered captivating keynote speeches. Dr.Madhan A Sendhil, Chairman, Rathinam Group of Institutions,delivered the welcome address. Mr.Balakrishnan.V, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore city, insisted about all should focus on pollution free environment for the survival of the future generation.Dr. Shankar S Mantha, Former Chairman AICTE,expressed his views on emotional intelligence.Mr.Lakshit Mittal Track chair Y20,Youth Wing of G20 Forum, expressed his views on the importance of AI and the need of it. Dr.Sendhil Ganesh, Managing Trustee, RVS Group of Educational institutions, Chairman CII, rendered his views on Creative and 21^st century skills.

There were two panel discussions held in which,the first session focussed on the topic“Beyond Textbooks – 21^st century Skills”. The topic was discussed by the inspired academicians like Mr.ElanGanesan, Senior General Manager – Manipal Global Education services, insisted in the discussion about problem solving skills to be taught to the students.Dr. M. Saravanakumar Dean, Anna University Regional Campus, Coimbatore, commented on to train the faculty and then it should be imbibed by the students on critical and soft skills. Dr. M. Venkatesan Principal, K S R Institute for Engineering and Technology, expressed his views on Practical learning would be more effective and give better result than the class room learning.

Dr. M. Ramasamy Principal, KPR Group of Institutionssuggested industry development program, in colleges for the faculty and studentsto be imbibed. Dr.M.G. Sumithra Principal, Sri Krishna College of Technology, suggested teachers should also have the mentality to accept new methodology and upgrade themselves to the new technical environment.

In the final panel discussion on the topic“Student Launchpad” discussed byProf.JoshuaDairymple, Professor of Law, Woxen University, the panel member Mr.UdayaSankar, Deputy Director, Government Relations at NASSCOM, spoke on the training space and economic support to the staff then only they involve themselves in teaching more effectively. Sameer Karulkar, Founder, Coverpage Ventures. Former Sr. Vice President, Times Group,Dr NagarajBalakrishnan Vice President, Atal Incubator – AICRAISE, Mr.Bijoy Sivan, Managing Director, Rently Software Development Pvt. Ltd were insisted that changes to be done in the method of teaching would helpful for the students to adhere the technology in an effective waySanthosh Mani, Director, Human Resources, Avantar Lab products, spoke on the students thought process and the effects in the modern era.This program focussed at the empowerment of the educational community.

This event designed to serve as a pivotal platform to prepare students for the dynamic landscape of work that lies ahead. School of Commerce at Rathinam College of Arts and Science successfully conducted A Mega Inter-Collegiate Commerce Exhibition: COMBIZ EXPO 2K24 Nurturing Business Ideas among college students. The Exhibition took place on 08.08.2024 at Auditorium in our campus. The Commerce Exhibition was a highly anticipated event among college students, providing them with a platform to showcase their innovative ideas, connect with industry professionals, and gain valuable insights into the dynamic field of commerce.

This exhibition featured a diverse range of exhibits, interactive displays, and entrepreneurial showcases. Students from various disciplines had the opportunity to demonstrate their creative project and business concepts as in the form of innovative product prototypes to sustainable business models, The Commerce Exhibition showcased the entrepreneurial spirit and talent of our college community.

It was our honour to invite esteemed chief guest CA Sivashankar Thirumurthi, B.Com., ACA, CPA(Aust.) Chartered Accountant, Practitioner. He inaugurated the opening ceremony of the Exhibition. Our chief patrons, Dr. R. Manickam, CEO and Secretary, Dr. S. Balasubramanian, Principal, Rathinam College of Arts and Science and Dr. T. M. Hemalatha Dean, Department of Commerce were presented on the occasion. Their presence and support motivated the students and provided various networking opportunities for all the attendees.

The organizers were thrilled to host the Inter-collegiate Commerce Exhibition, where more than 60 students from other colleges showcased their initiatives with logical creativity. The students from Sri Krishna College of Arts and Science have won the Cash prize and the runner up went to the students from Dr.SNS Rajalakshmi College of Arts and Science.

CYBER CRIME- AWARENESS PROGRAM

On September 26, 2024, the Department of Psychology from the School of Science at Rathinam College of Arts and Science hosted a significant "Cyber Crime Awareness Program" in the college auditorium. This initiative, organized in collaboration with the City Cyber Crime Cell, sought to tackle the pressing issue of cybercrime, which is increasingly prevalent in today’s digital age. The event drew an audience of 182 students, reflecting the college's dedication to raising awareness about critical contemporary issues. The program kicked off at 2:00 PM with a welcome address by Dr. S. Balasubramanian, the Principal of Rathinam College.

He emphasized the urgent necessity for heightened awareness regarding cyber threats, acknowledging the dual nature of the digital landscape that offers both opportunities and risks. He presented alarming statistics on identity theft, financial fraud, and cyberbullying, urging attendees to remain vigilant in their online activities and highlighting the role of educational institutions in equipping students with the knowledge to navigate this complex environment safely. Mr. T. R. Vishaga Saravanan, Special Sub Inspector of Police at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Coimbatore City, delivered the keynote address. Drawing from his extensive experience in combating cybercrime, he captivated the audience with insights into various forms of cybercrime, including hacking, identity theft, online harassment, and financial scams. Mr. Saravanan shared compelling real-life case studies that illustrated the devastating consequences of cybercrime, including a poignant example of a young woman whose identity was stolen, resulting in significant financial and emotional distress. He urged attendees to practice good digital hygiene—such as using strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, and being cautious with personal information—and emphasized the importance of promptly reporting cyber incidents to law enforcement to minimize damage. Following the keynote, Dr. A. Seethalakshmy, Head of the Department of Psychology and event convenor, offered a psychological perspective on cybercrime. She delved into the motivations behind cybercriminal behavior and the psychological impact on victims, particularly highlighting the enduring effects of cyberbullying and online harassment. Dr. Seethalakshmy encouraged the audience to approach these issues with empathy and understanding. The event also included a panel discussion featuring Smt. N. Tamil Selvi (Police Akka), Women Head Constable of the DS Sundarpuram Police Station, which allowed attendees to engage directly with law enforcement representatives. The program concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students actively discussed cyber threats and digital safety. The event coordinatorsRajaswathy, Riya C Ashraf and Krishnaprabha carried out the event successfully. Overall, the "Cyber Crime Awareness Program" was a resounding success, providing attendees with crucial knowledge and tools to safely navigate the digital world. It underscored the importance of ongoing education and community cooperation in the fight against cybercrime.

Rathinam College of Arts and Science celebrated the 23^rd College Annual Day under the banner “Rathinam Grand Fest-2024” on March 14^th at 9.30 am in Rathinam Conventional Hall.

On this special occasion, Vijay T.V Celebrity, Aari Arjunan, Big Boss- IV Title winner will be the Chief Guest and add grandeur to the gathering and distribute prizes for the winners.

The College Day event stands as an empyreal confluence wherein students from multifarious disciplines unite to exhibit their acumen and ardency. Boasting a cornucopia of captivating performances and intellectual competitions, this event offers a proliferation of exhilarating engagements for all spectra of attendees to revel in. This gastronomical carnival shall comprise a panoply of events, encompassing enrapturing music recitals, scintillating dance performances, dramatic renditions par excellence, intellectual debates of cerebral prowess, and sporting events infused with unparalleled ardor. The winners of these competitions will be awarded.

Our Chairman Dr. Madan A. Sendhil, delivered the presidential address, Dr. R. Manickam, CEO & Secretary delivered the Felicitation address and Dr. S Balasubramanian , Principal presented the Annual report. Deans ,Heads of various department, faculty members and students made the program a grand success.

Overall championship was won by Department of Visual Communication, MR V.Sathishanandan, Head of the department, along with his staffs and students received the Award.
